The Deceived
You wouldn’t think a cleaner, who’s paid handsomely to clean up other people’s messes without a trace, like dead bodies, would have much of a heart. But that’s not the case with Quinn.
Why I liked it
You wouldn’t think a cleaner, who’s paid handsomely to clean up other people’s messes without a trace, like dead bodies, would have much of a heart. But that’s not the case with Jonathan Quinn. Sometimes he tries hard to ignore his moral compass, but when his closest friends are involved, he’ll risk everything.
The second book in the Quinn Series, The Deceived, made me want to go back and read the The Cleaner. The story line hooked me from the first chapter, and the action is non-stop.
My only complaint is that this novel, and some other like it, take the easy way out sometimes with technology, and just have some super-hacker who can get into anything to find the information that is needed. For me, this made for some slower stretches in the middle. But the intriguing story line kept me turning pages.
And I didn’t regret it. Battles writes a terrific ending with surprise twists that I didn’t see coming. Ultimately, that’s what made me like this book enough to add it to my recommended reading list.
