Why I liked it
The sequel to I, Saul has it all: suspense, romance (yes, romance for the Apostle Paul), intense characters, and a great story. This novel focuses on Paul’s fictional memoir, telling the story of Paul’s journey from the day of his conversion to the launch of his missionary journeys.
On the run from his evil pursuers, Paul hides in the desert of Arabia with a small band of believers, where he falls in love with an unlikely widow. As their romance blooms, the brutal and relentless Roman General Balbus closes in on his prey. After a series of heartbreaking events seem to doom the relationship, Paul returns to Jerusalem where he must convince the apostles of his sincerity. As relentless as the general, Paul never forgets his love.
The stunning climax of this sweeping novel left my jaw open. I never saw it coming.
I’ve known the story of Paul since my childhood. After reading these novels, I feel like I know Paul better than ever before. And I like him more than ever before.
You might like Empire’s End better than I, Saul. For me it was close, but I know others who liked Empire’s End better. Bottom line – read both. You won’t be disappointed.
